Ebel - Masculinity at a Glance | Jul 25, 2007 |
The Ebel watchmaking company has set an ambitious goal to enrich its spectrum of boldly designed timepieces for men. In 2007, Ebel has enlarged its watch collection for men with two robust models - a new Calibre 139 Automatic Chronograph to join the 1911 BTR line, as well as a new 1911 Discovery.
The Ebel watch designers came up with the idea to develop the 1911 BTR Automatic Chronograph with special windows for the chronograph function as they offer much better readability than counter displays. They transformed a minute counter into a 120-degree window featuring a three-part hand. When the first hand in the window reaches 30 minutes, the second hand appears to continue the reading at the point where the first one left off. As for the chronograph hours, they are displayed with help of a disc featuring from-one-to-twelve graduation. The disc is rotating under the dial, indicating the hours in a window positioned at 6 o'clock. The seconds hand is found in the center of the dial.
The same architecture that provides readability and clarity of the 1911 BTR Automatic Chronograph, also characterizes the Ebel's new 1911 Discovery. This is a chronograph model that incorporates traditional counters, as well as displays the day and date function through separate windows. The 1911 Discovery chronograph has been designed in the most dynamic and resolutely sporty way. The timepiece features tachymetric divisions in aluminum, protective pushbuttons with notches for comfort of operating, a screw-in crown, and hands and the square hour markers provided with Superluminova treatment.
The new Ebel watches for sporty-style lovers is principally targeted at the generation of younger people fascinated by fine timekeeping. Both models are characterized by affirmed lines, successful color combinations, impeccable finishing and go on an ultra-flexible bracelet. They are powered by reliable ETA movements.
Ebel released its 1911 BTR collection in 2006. The new collection was developed in distinctive style of the brand mixed with a new vision of the sports watch. The brand's designers introduced a new original watch design based on the hexagonal case of the original line. They made the case thicker and increased its diameter to 44.5 mm. Ebel equipped its first 1911 BTR timepieces with new 'in-house' COSC-certified mechanical movement.
